I'm new to dating sites... And I find them fascinating...
They're like delicious-looking takeout menus where there are just TOO many tempting options. Oh sure, the dishes oftentimes can't live up to the hype... Maybe they were under the heat lamp a little too long...Or maybe they're a little bland... Or the portion size is misleading. But, that's okay...there are SO many more options to choose from at this smorgasbord!
I'm amazed, though, at the number of people who apparently only look at the pictures.
I've gotten invitations to meet from men on other sites whose profiles show pictures with dead animals!?! HELLO!
I'm also an atheist... seems like those two items should rule out the vast majority of so-called matches in my age group.
For the READERS out there, though, here are a few more tidbits about me:
- I grew up in Florida...Have never lived anywhere else...but I rarely go to the beach. (I like the beach just fine... It just doesn't ever seem to fit into my schedule.)
- Speaking of schedule....I plan everything... Down to the tiniest detail. (That old saying "can't see the forest for the trees"? Well, I'm in the LEAVES!)
This is one area where I'd like to find my OPPOSITE! I would LOVE to add some spontaneity to my life.
- I like metal music, but I definitely don't fit the profile. Mosh pits scare me.
- I secretly correct everyone's grammar and spelling in my head while I'm reading all the online profiles. (And nothing gets a left swipe faster than textese!)
Speaking of texting...my texts are always multiple paragraphs with punctuation and everything...I just can't "LOL".
- When I'm not at work, I prefer quiet time at home...With a good book or binge-watching television. I'm not a couch potato, but I DO like to just relax when I get the chance.
- I enjoy intense intellectual discussions about life, love and the mysteries of the universe...but sometimes, I just want to laugh and be silly.
- My passion is rescuing animals, especially pigs. I have 2 pet pigs now... And if I had more space and $, I'd rescue a lot more!
Finally...I'm not looking for a (male) clone of myself... I'm very tolerant of differing ideas and lifestyles, but there are certain areas where compatibility with a partnere is a MUST (e.g. if the Bible is THE all-important work of nonfiction for you...then please MOVE ON!) I don't believe in wasting anyone's time - including my own - If I don't fit YOUR preferences, I'll voluntarily move on. I would hope you'd do the same.
